The time has come to make sure no squatters have made a mess in the wood duck nest box, before the wood ducks arrive to scout out nesting sites. Usually some other bird species has made a nest of twigs or leaves, but this time the box contains a mound of uniformly fluffy, finely-shredded plant fibers. Who did this?
